You have booked your session and it is soon. now what?
I'm sure that is the main question that you are asking yourself. I hope to let you know in this blog how you can best get you furry family member and yourself ready for you professional portrait session. Yes, we want you to be ready too, even if you thik that you do not want to be in the portraits. We always reccomend that you are in the photos with your fur baby in some way or another. This can mean that you are fully in or just a little in, but no matter how much of you are in the portraits you will still want to look your best.
Lets talk about how you need to get ready for your partin the session first. Once you pick out what the look of your portaits will be, with our help of course. The next thing for you to do is pick out the outfit that will fulfill your vision, we will help here too. Once you have picked out your outfit you will need to make sure your hair is ready and you are ready to go. SInce this session is focused on your furry famiy member for the most part you have the easiest things to do to get ready for the session.
Secondly, you as the owner have several things to do once you are ready for your small part of the session. These include:
- Finalize the session location and time
- Seeing how much time you need to plan for to get to the session location a few minutes early
- Pack up all your fur babies favorite toys and snacks to bring to the session
- If the session is in your home do a deep clean so that your house will look spectacular in the artwork that you are goiing to purchase.
Thirdly, now the things that you are truly worried about, how to get your fur baby ready for their portrait session.
- Make a groomers appointment! You want them to be groomed, but not freshly groomed. So dont schedule that groomer for the day before.
- If you think your dog needs it you can also do some basic obedience training before your session but that is not necessary. Even if you have a very active animal we are able to work with them and create beautiful artwork that you will want to hang on your walls for years to come.
- On the day of the session feed them less food than they would typically eat, since they will be getting lots of treats at the session.
- Also on the day of your session, a couple of hours before your session, please take your dog for a nice long walk. Taking them for a walk will allow them to get some of their engery out and be tired for their session. But be carful where you go for your walk since you do not want to messup their nice fresh grooming that you just paid for.
- Lastly be ready to be flexible, since your furry family member is the one in charge of the session and we let them lead. Also be ready to have fun!
